About Dr. Rafferty

I am a licensed clinical psychologist in New York City.

As an artist and writer myself, I have a particular interest in working with artists and creatives of all types. I’m also interested in the interaction of how gender roles and stereotypes affect us.

I earned my Ph.D. from The New School in New York City. I completed my doctoral internship at Lenox Hill Hospital. I completed my post-doctoral fellowship at Northwell Health’s Zucker Hillside Hospital where I specialized in the treatment of first episode psychosis, severe mental illnesses, and emergency crisis resolution. I currently serve as a Clinical Associate at The New School’s Safran Center for Psychological Services as a supervisor for graduate students in training.

I have experience in a variety of clinical settings including many years within inpatient psychiatric hospitals, community mental health treatment centers, and private practice.I have advanced training and experience working with Attachment Theory and also with personality disorders.
